C. CHATFIELD, Hurston, Island Bay. The bride wore an Empire frock of ivory poplin, with trimmings of satin, silver, and beautiful lace, and her large brown and cream hat was wreathed with roses and foliage in tones of brown. Brown furs completed the picturesque costume. She was given away by her cousin, Mr. Chas. Derby, and had one little bridesmaid, Mrs. Gaye's daughter, who wore pink silk and a wreath of pink daisies. After the ceremony the guests were entertained at Mrs. Gaye's house. The bride's travelling frock was of navy blue braided, and her hat was also of blue. The honeymoon was spent at Brighton, and their home is to be in Croydon. |

N. D. Sperry, now a member of Congress from the New Haven District. He was thus engaged until 1882, when he entered a large paper and hardware establishment of the same city, continuing his services with same for seven years. On July 1, 1889, he purchased the paper and twine departments of that business house, the branches to which he had given his time and efforts, and for the following six years, as proprietor of the Chatfield Paper Co., carried on an extensive and successful paper and twine business. In 1895 was incorporated the Chatfield Paper Co., of which he was made and has since been president and treasurer, and of which he is the principal stockholder. He is also connected with the New Haven Pulp Board Co., of which he is president and a leading stockholder; this company has built and is now operating a large plant at the foot of Green street, on Mill river. Mr. Chatfield is also a stockholder and director in the Evening Leader Co., publishers of the Evening Leader, a daily Republican newspaper of New Haven, and one of the leading papers of the State; he is also a director in other enterprises. He is a man of recognized business ability, energetic and industrious, and has been noted wherever placed as a faithful and conscientious worker. He has been especially active as a member of the New Haven Young Glen's Republican Club, in which since its organization he has held several offices, and he is regarded as one of its faithful members and friends. He has most effectively served his fellow citizens as an alderman and also in the common council; is a trustee of the Old Town Farm, and a director and treasurer of the New Haven Free Public Library.
