| England Births and Christenings Name: James Money Event Type: Christening Event Date: 25 Sep 1724 Event Place: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, England Gender: Male Father's Name: Francis Money ===== William Washbourne (junior of Pytchley) and Hester (Hester Ernle whose grandfather had been Chancellor of the Exchequer at the time of Charles II and James II. Hester's mother was Vincentia Kyrle, daughter of the Sir John Kyrle) had twelve children, one of whom was Elizabeth who married Francis Money in 1723. Their married life was poignantly short and having given birth to a son James in 1724 and next year to a daughter Mary, who died aged three weeks, Elizabeth sadly died on 2 March 1726. The baby James Money was brought up by his maiden aunts, Elizabeth's sisters, in Pytchley, and nothing is known for certain of Francis' subsequent life, or even when he died or where he was buried. In 1743 James' uncle Ernle Washbourne, who was the heir to the Washbourne estates, died unmarried and bequeathed James Money the sum of one hundred pounds in capital and an income of £20 per annum for his life. On the strength of this the nineteen year old James married, later on in the same year, Eugenia Stoughton, daughter of Sir William Stoughton of Warwickshire. James was probably by now beginning his career as an army officer. James Money (1724-1785) inherited the Ernle and Kyrle estates of Whetham (Calne) and Homme House (Much Marcle) from his cousin Lady Dupplin in 1753. He also had property at Pitsford, Northamptonshire, and leased lands at Churcham in Gloucestershire. He pursued a military career, being a major in the 86th regiment on the island of Goree (Senegal) in 1760, a captain in Colonel Boscawen's regiment of foot in 1764, and finally a lieutenant-colonel. He married Eugenia Stoughton and their only surviving son was William Money. |

It was, therefore, necessary, time Mrs. Chatfield used every exertion to restore the little, fellow, and finding that the emetic did not act, she administered a grain of tartar of mastic and half a teaspoonful of Ipecacuanha powder, which had no effect. This dose was repeated in about, Mrs. Chatfield also applied a mustard plaster to the pit of the stomach and to the soles of the feet, but, although the child appeared slightly to rally, the whole of the upper part of the body was cold, and there was no pulse except under the arm pit.
