In the Spring of 1850 John and Ann (Jones) Davis/Davies came to America with their small daughter Mary and his brother Thomas Davies. They settled at Pewaukee, Waukesha Co, WI and at Jefferson until 1868. Then they moved to Deerfield Twp, Waushara Co, where Ann died in 1889. In 1890 he moved to Wautoma living there until 1900. Then he moved to Deerfield Twp to live with his daughter, Mrs Dever L Bray, because he was in ill health. He died on June 2, 1904, at the home of his daughter, Mrs James Crandall in South Hancock (while visiting). Six children were left to mourn: Mrs Mary Ann Runnels; Mrs Alice Crandall, Hancock; Mrs Belle Jaquith, Amherst; Mrs Dever Lewis (Tamer) Bray and Ernest Davis of Deerfield, and John Davis of Galesville. There is also an adopted daughter, Georgia Kruski of Nebraska. Survived by his brother Thomas Davies 1831-1917. Mr Davis was a veteran of of the Civil War, enlisted from Jefferson Co - Co. E 28th Wis. Vol. After 13 months he received honorable discharge for disability. He was a member of Ed Saxe Post, Wautoma.
