On June 23, 1956, he married June Bottoms at St. John's Episcopal Church, Dubuque. Together they raised four children: Linda (Grover) Weber of Cassville, WI; Cindy (Dave) George of Peosta, IA; Sue (Duane) Decker of Dubuque; and Mike (Lonnie) Bradfield of Anderson, IN. Duane loved fishing, hunting and having a few beers with his buddies. Later in life, he spent his time attending all events his grandchildren were a part of. When great-grandchildren came along, you could find him cheering them on in everything they did as well. They were the center of his world.
