History - Martha and children Alice, Ellen, Emily, Jane, and Nephi were on the Joseph S. Rawlins Company wagon train departing July 25 and arriving Aug. 20, 1868. Her older son, Joseph, had already arrived in Utah in 1866. Her husband, Thomas, came later in 1869.
They made their way to Pleasant Grove where their daughter had settled, but could not find work so moved to Salt Lake where they remained their entire lives.

Evidence from emigration records proves that the Elsmore family came to Utah in 1868 or 1869. They were on the ship to America in 1868. The first documentation to place them in Utah was a daughter's marriage in May 1870, which was prior to that season's emigration, followed by the August 1870 census in American Fork, Utah.
