VERDICT OF SUICIDE.
GRIFFITH. Friday.
The Police Magistrate (Mr Harris) yesterday inquired into the death of Herbert James CHATFIELD, labourer, slngle aged 24 who died in the district hospital on Wednesday from arsenlcal poisoning.
Dr Burrell said that on the night of February 15 Chatfield came to his surgery and told him that he had eaten two handfuls of poisoned wheat because he was fed up with things.
Other evidence showed that Chatfield had brooded over his rejection by a girl, whose name was not disclosed.
A finding of suicide was recorded.
