STEP-MOTHER OF Kathleen J. "Kathy" (Parks) Chatfield

Marian J. Parks of Bieber passed away on January 10, 2015. Marian was born Oct. 5, 1928, in Waterloo, Iowa to James and Velma Fisher.

She moved to California and graduated high school in Los Angeles, followed by getting married and becoming a registered nurse. Marian moved to the Fall River Valley, California in 1964 and started working at the Mayers Memorial Hospital when it had only 10 beds.

Marian met and married Carl Parks in 1974 and moved to Bieber, California. She soon earned her Real Estate Broker's license and together they ran Big Valley Real Estate in Bieber for 40 years. Marian had her hand in many of the community events and served on the boards for the Big Valley Chamber of Commerce, Big Valley Community Swimming Pool, Big Valley Health Center, and was very involved in the Lions and Big Valley Days events. She was always a supporter and organizer for blood drives in the valley and for the Shriners Children's Hospital. When something needed to be done you could count on both Marian and Carl Parks to help out.

Between them they had seven children: James Bonsall (deceased), Joe Bonsall, Jean Bell, Joyce Nowlin, Ed Parks, Carolyn Davis, and Kathy Chatfield. They had 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

A Memorial Mass will be held at the St. Stephens Catholic Church on Highway 299E in Bieber, California on Feb 7, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a dessert reception.

She will be buried with Carl in the Hillside Cemetery in Nubieber, California.
