FATHER
BELLEVUE, Iowa - Fred H. "Fritz" Thielen, 101, of Bellevue, died Friday evening, Aug. 19, 2005, at Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Bellevue. Friends may call from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at Kingery Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bellevue.
Mr. Thielen had been a farmer, well driller, Bellevue police officer and a carpenter at the Savanna (Ill.) Army Depot.
He was born on Jan. 6, 1904, in Charlotte, son of Hugo and Louise (Hansen) Thielen.
He married Verona Ruchotzke on Dec. 18, 1929, at St. John's Church, Preston; she preceded him in death on March 21, 1996. They lived in Jackson County their entire married life.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Bellevue.
Fred enjoyed cooking, gardening and taking care of his fruit trees.
Surviving are two daughters, Verona (Harlan) Ketelsen, of Ajo, Ariz., and Phyllis (Ray) Fishnick, of Asbury; a son, F.L. (Mary) Thielen, of Bellevue; 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise McNeil, of Preston; and a sister-in-law, Luvelda Thielen, of Sabula.
He also was preceded in death by two grandsons, Dan Ketelsen and Eric Thielen; and four sisters and two brothers.
