Funeral services for Elmer Johnston, 89, of 509 W. Water, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 1975, at Lewis Brothers Chapel. The Rev. Charles Secton officiated with burial in Grandview Park, Hannibal.
Casket bearers were Gary Lake, Dean CHATFIELD, Emmett Bremmer, Jr, Ed Gordon, Don Lugena, and William Potterfield.
Mr. Johnston died Wednesday, July 16, at 12:50 pm in St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Hannibal. He was born November 28, 1885 in Monroe County, a son of William R. and Fannie Heathman Johnston. He was married to Alverda Jane Moore on December 22, 1909 in Paris. She died in 1961. Mr. Johnston was a retired farmer.
Survivors include five children, Mrs. Bernard (Vida) Owsley, Hanibal; Mrs. Thelma CHATFIELD, Palmyra; Mrs. Henry (Dorothy) Potterfield, Route 2 Palmyra; Mrs. Daniel (Lois) Potterfield, Route 3 Palmyra; and Mrs. William (Mary) Vance, Palmyra; two brothers, Hulen Johnston, Quincy, Ill.; Robert Johnston, Clarence; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Hibbs, Hannibal; 19 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
