69, of Beley Ave. in Mattydale, died Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital. Charlie was a lifelong resident of Mattydale and was the son of the late Timothy J. Hayes and Florence L. Chubb. Charlie was a graduate of North Syracuse High School Class of 1957. Charlie was a past chief and life member of the Mattydale Volunteer Fire Dept. serving more than 45 years.
He was predeceased by his sister, Florence Willis. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Arlene (Krupa); his three daughters, Vicky (Deborah Duello) Hayes of Syracuse, Margaret "Meg" Hayes of Mattydale, Patty (Chuck) Cerio of Baldwinsville; his son, Tim (Karen) Hayes of Apex, NC; his sister, Barbara Shonyo of Liverpool; his brother, Timothy Richard (Brenda) Hayes of Endicott; his six grandchildren, Alex, Elizabeth, Jonathon, Holly, Katy, and Jack; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Mattydale Fire Department, 173 East Molloy Road, Mattydale. Services will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by a reception to celebrate Charlie's life.
