Narrative

John T. Young, formerly of Columbus, OH and 25 year Naples resident, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2016 at the age of 87.

John was born in 1929. He was a US Army veteran, serving on a tank crew and as a photographer during the Korean War. After the war, he was employed by Champion Paper Company and absolutely loved every minute of it until his retirement in 1988.

John was an avid hunter, golfer and boater. He especially enjoyed hunting with his sons during deer season in southern Ohio. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Barbara C. Young, and her children, Mark and Sheryl Chatfield; his children, Patti Cox (Jim), John C. (Sheila), James (Pat), Stephen and Daniel; his sister, Peggy Keller; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

John was a member of East Naples United Methodist Church where he served as an usher for many years.

His ashes will be scattered in the gulf in a private ceremony. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
