He was my 3rd cousin, twice removed's 1st husband; my cousin was Mary Noble whom George married 15 Jan 1870 in Hull, Yorkshire, they had 5 children and they all appeared on the 1881 UK census at 3rd April in Sculcoates, Yorkshire.
So I believe that for whatever reason, George deserted Mary and migrated to the USA after 3rd April 1881.
Do you have strong proof that he emigrated in 1876? If you do maybe he went back and forth between 1876 and 1882?
