PEORIA - Frederick O.A. Mehl, 98, of Lutheran Home, formerly of 3806 N. Knoxville Ave., died at 2:16 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, at Methodist Medical Center.
Born Aug. 7, 1902, in Peoria to Frederick W. and Augusta W. Regentz Mehl, he married Audrey Lake on Feb. 14, 1934, in Danville. She died June 19, 1994, in Peoria.
He also was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are six nephews, including Bruce (and Kelly) Mehl, Jay (and Sarah) Mehl and Rodney (and Judy), all of Peoria, and Gary (and Luann) Mehl of Morton; and four nieces, including Gloria Messmore of Peoria.
He was the owner and president of Illinois Highway Lines for 25 years, retiring in 1965. He was the former president of Mehl Leaf and Tobacco Co.
He was a member of the TKE fraternity at Bradley University.
He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Peoria Christian Business Men's Club. He was a former member of the American Business Club. He was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Peoria and served on the Trinity Lutheran School board.
