His paternal grandfather, R W Ramsay,sr, died 1903, maternal, C M Condon, in 1915, both in Kansas, ~ ~ his father, uncle and grandfather had imigrated from Scotland to America in the 1880s developing a chain of, up-scale, Dry Goods stores in the midwest, located at one time or another, at Atchison (1907), Coffeyville (<1898) , Iola (1899), Pittsburg (1890) in Kansas,~ Guthrie 1892), McAlester (1928), Miami, Okumalgee (1919) in Oklahoma,~ Beatrice (1936), in Nebraska ~ Carthage (1895) & Joplin (1910) in Missouri to name known locations. In part found in Joplin Globe, p 4, c 2&3, 26 September 1946, for a good history of store growth and its 25 April 1952, 62nd Anniversary article, family owned and operated some stores over eighty years until sons, Bob and Jimmie, sold Carthage & Joplin stores in 1972 to Vandever Incorporated of Oklahoma, with their closing 30 August 1976 or '79. (son Bob opened a store in Las Vegas, Nevada).

Not much was uncovered in the internet research concerning this Ramsay or the Condon families, so two ladies went to Oswego, Kansas in 2012 and did some deep research.
